Temple Dash by Lady D

Temple Dash

Daniel bit his lip, though he knew what Jack would say, that the temple was in too bad a shape, that the supporting wall of the partially destroyed temple was ready to drop on its next victim, he thought the risk worth it as he ventured in. The wall swayed high above him precariously with each step he took. He reached down scooped up his pack and turned to dash back out, nearing the exit just as the wall came crumbling down. Throwing himself out the entrance, a loud BOOM was heard behind him, followed by a cascade of dust, debris, and large rock fragments. As he stood up shakily and then leaned over to pat himself down, a shadow loomed over him.

“Jack?”  Jack did not look happy.

“Ya just had to go back, didn’t you?” Jack accused. “Your imported coffee to important to just forget.”

Daniel ducked his head, “Yeah, I was sure I could do it.”

Jack looked up at the sky and shook his head. “Daniel, dammit, what am I gonna do with you?”

Daniel winced.  “Uh… have some imported coffee with me?” Daniel suggested.

Jack sighed.

The End
