Hints
“It’s nice. I mean that, Daniel, but…”
“But? But, what, Jack?”
“It’s not what I asked for.”
“That’s gratitude for you. Jack, I don’t remember you saying you wanted something specific for Christmas to me.”
“I didn’t say it. I didn’t have to or at least, shouldn’t have had to.”
“You know… last I checked I don’t read minds.”
“You’d have to be blind not to have noticed all the hints I left around for you!”
“Is that a crack on my glasses?”
“No. Well…”
“Well?”
“No, Daniel, unless they’re cracked. How could you NOT know what I wanted for Christmas?”
“If you didn’t come out and just say it then how else would I really know?”
“But, there were all those anonymous emails I sent to you, Teal’c, and Carter. What about the picture I posted on the bulletin board.”
“No use complaining! I just didn’t see it! Neither did the others.”
“I don’t see how that’s even possible since I put clues out all through last months missions, and on display at team nights, not to mentioned blatant doodles during briefings that I know you saw.”
“Didn’t.”
“Look, I got Teal’c and Carter’s gifts already, and they weren’t it, so I figured they’d worked out with you for you to get it for me.”
“Sorry. And sorry you don’t like my gift, either.”
“Like I said… s’nice, really. This tackle box with all the extras’ll come in handy. Thanks. But I just wanted… never mind.”
“Knock, Knock.”
“General, Sir. And Teal’c… and Carter? What’s going on? Why are you all smirking?”
“Happy Holidays, Colonel! Your team got together with me to present this to you. Go ahead, open it.”
“Huh? Wh— But, I thought… Da-aaaniel!”
“Had to keep ya guessing, Jack, so you wouldn’t get curious. We all pitched in. I think you’ll like this gift.”
“Guys… oh, man, it’s perfect. It’s beautiful. It just needs some nice lures and new fishing line to test it out.”
“Uh, Jack? Check out the extra compartments on the side of the tackle box I gave you.”
“Oh, Daniel… guys… these lures and reel are sweet.”
“Colonel, your team wanted to make this the best Christmas gift ever for you, so they asked me to do something if it was at all possible. Turns out Colonel, it was. I’ve got travel arrangements to Alaska for you so you can test out your new gifts.”
“Alaska? But that’s… that’s… damn… I’m speechless. Thanks guys.”
“Merry Christmas, Jack!”
