Seasons Change
Yellow, brown, white, purple, and a thousand shades of green met his gaze.
Red and white checks lay on a blanket below him.
The sky above was a perfect cerulean.
Cotton candy clouds floated through brilliant sunlight.
He squinted at the white shapes above and reached a hand out beside him.
She was there.
Warm in the summer sun.
Happy.
So was he.
But his secret grew.
Inoperable.
They didn’t know.
In winter, only white and a few shades of grey would dominate this place.
There would be no yellows or greens.
And she would walk alone in the cold.
