Author’s Note: Written for the March challenge word of ‘lion’ on Ancient Obsessions.

You never fooled me, you know.

The mild-mannered archeologist thing only went so far.

As much as you like to pretend that you’re as gentle as a spring lamb, I know better.

I’ve seen the darkness behind your eyes when you think no one is looking.

As you stand here now, surprised by your own ferocity and with a dead Jaffa at your feet, I see it again.

You’re more of a lion than you think, Daniel.

Sure, this job brought that to the surface more than you’d like, but it’s always been in you.

And it always will be.
