Hook, Line, and Sinker
Catching fish requires the right bait.
I’ve caught many fish in my day.
You might even say that I’m proud of my fish-capturing skills.
But it suddenly occurs to me that I’m not the only expert here.
‘It’ll be fun,’ he said.
‘There’ll be free beer,’ he said.
Then he gave me that puppy dog look he’s so fond of, and I didn’t even need to hear about how it was my civic duty.
So here I am, dressed to the nines and hobnobbing with stuffed shirts at a freaking charity luncheon.
And I sympathize with the fish.
A lot.
