Deserving

He called you a geek.

Funny, I haven’t thought of you that way in a long time, and I’m surprised by the comment.

Then again, I think I know you a bit better than this loser.

As you tense and then relax ever so slightly, you shoot me an almost pleading expression.

I tell you to let it go, and I know that’s the right thing to do here, but when a bit of steel enters your eyes, I know that’s not going to happen even before I hear your words.

“No.  Not this time.”

Oh, we SO do not need this, but I hear the determination in your voice and I understand where you’re coming from on this one.

You’ve been kicked around enough in this life to deserve to thrash this guy.

You deserve a little respect.

You earned mine long ago, but that’s not the point.

If you need to do this, and I think you do, I’m gonna be right beside you.

As always.

You don’t need my permission or my help, especially not right now, to teach these guys a lesson, but I give both anyway.

“Ok.”

We can always blame it on the armbands.

The End
